Goodmans, Lerners and three other firms made new announcements
Welcome to this week’s roundup of movements among major law firms, in which we sum up significant hires, promotions, departures, and other announcements.
The firm has recently welcomed Keith Brown and Rebecca Skinner. Brown, a partner and member of the firm’s Indigenous practice group, regularly provides advice on aboriginal and treaty rights matters, including the duty to consult and accommodate. Skinner is an associate and member of the firm’s tax and tax controversy or tax litigation groups, focusing on tax disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency and the Department of Justice.
Anna Troshchynsky has joined Goodmans as an associate in the firm’s business law group. Troshchynsky earned her law degree from the University of Ottawa and was called to the Ontario bar in 2019.
The firm has recently welcomed associate Sarah Wise. Before joining Koziebrocki Law, Wise articled at a labour and employment law firm. She graduated from Queen’s Law School, where she was active in mooting competitions. She was also actively involved in the Queen’s Legal Aid Clinic. Before law school, Sarah worked at the Ontario Ministry of Health, specializing in privacy and health technology issues.
Lerners has announced the addition of 14 new associates across its offices in London, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Toronto. Orion Boverhof and Greg Woodward joined the London office, focusing on construction law and municipal law, respectively, while Minki Jeong and Blaire Smockum returned to handle commercial litigation, health law, and insurance. Kevin Wilbee specializes in estate planning and administration, and Sanan (Sunny) Mirza focuses on wills and estate litigation. In family law, Samantha Lawr in Toronto and Daniele Sing in London bring their expertise to assist clients with complex family matters.
Also joining the firm are Brienna French, who practises education law and personal injury, and Niloufar Sadroddini, who focuses on employment, health, and human rights law. Chelsea McKee brings her skills in dispute resolution and insolvency to the Toronto office, while Madeleine Cleland advocates for abuse survivors. Megan Linaric and Emily Woods both join the London office, focusing on health law and personal injury, with Woods leveraging her previous experience as a registered nurse to handle medical malpractice cases.
McMillan has welcomed Timothy Baron as a partner specializing in the areas of capital markets, securities, investment funds and asset management.
Catherine Doyle has also joined the firm as a partner specializing in the areas of financial services, project finance, public-private partnership and infrastructure.
