Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG)

Joe Zed has joined BLG as a partner in the firm’s corporate and capital markets group. Zed’s practice focuses on public and private corporate finance transactions and domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. He also advises Canadian and international companies on corporate governance and securities law compliance matters. He routinely acts for internationally-based private equity firms in connection with the formation, marketing, and sale of funds in Canada.

Furthermore, Zed has extensive experience in capital market financings, working with public and private issuers and dealers on prospectus offerings and private placements of all sizes and across various sectors. He is also experienced in public and private mergers and acquisitions, representing purchasers and vendors in domestic and cross-border transactions.

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP

The firm has welcomed associate Omar Halbouni to its capital markets group in Edmonton.‎ Halbouni has advised both private and public clients in the areas of cross-border and domestic mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, joint ventures, capital markets, securities, corporate governance, and other general corporate matters. He has experience in various industries, including energy, oil and gas, health care, technology, startups, agriculture, mining and exploration, manufacturing, automotive, real estate, and construction.

WeirFoulds LLP

The firm has welcomed Fabiola Bassong as an associate in its construction practice group. Prior to joining the firm, Bassong practised as an associate at a boutique litigation firm in Toronto, where she held a joint construction and medical malpractice defence practice. In this role, Bassong successfully represented her clients before all levels of Ontario courts. She has experience with all the steps of civil proceedings, including pleadings, trials, and enforcement. She has also represented clients in arbitrations, public inquiries, and before regulatory bodies.
