The expansion will increase the firm's US footprint to 24 offices
US law firm Polsinelli announced that more than 20 shareholders are expected to join the firm in the coming weeks to open a new office in Philadelphia.
This expansion will establish Polsinelli’s presence in the city and increase the firm’s US footprint to 24 offices. This Philadelphia office is Polsinelli’s third new location this year.
The incoming attorneys are expected to enhance Polsinelli’s existing capabilities. Their practices cover employee benefits and executive compensation, employee stock ownership plans (ESOP), financial services, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, and labour and employment. This addition will create significant executive compensation and ESOP practices within the firm.

Chase Simmons, chairman and CEO of Polsinelli, commented on the expansion. “Philadelphia was a missing piece in our platform as one of the largest full-service U.S.-only firms. We are looking forward to welcoming this talented group to our firm in the coming weeks and leading our launch into Philadelphia. They are deeply embedded in the life sciences, health care, energy, and financial services sectors, which makes them an ideal fit for us.”
Simmons added, “This group has the leadership skills and cultural fit that we were looking for as we studied the market. Our client service philosophies are aligned, and I anticipate this team will thrive at Polsinelli.”
The addition of these new shareholders in Philadelphia is expected to strengthen Polsinelli’s market position across key practice areas. The firm aims to offer expanded services to clients in various sectors. With the opening of the Philadelphia office, Polsinelli continues to build its national presence, providing legal services across 24 locations in the United States.

Later in the month, Munger, Tolles & Olson experienced a departure of about 10 percent of its partnership when 17 transactional lawyers in Los Angeles moved to Baker McKenzie.
According to consultancy Fairfax Associates, there has also been an increase in law firm mergers in the US legal industry. Fairfax reported 29 law firm mergers completed in the first half of 2024, compared to 28 during the same period in 2023, and 25 in 2021 and 2022.
