The location was chosen partly because it provided access to both coasts
Global firm Vinson & Elkins opened an office in Denver’s Cherry Creek neighborhood on November 1.
The office was launched by partners Sarah Morgan, Michael Joyce, and Ramey Layne. Morgan was appointed the managing partner of the new branch.
“Denver offers a central U.S. location with easy access to both coasts and Texas, making the city a strategic market for companies with national and international business operations. The city’s thriving business ecosystem, coupled with a robust legal talent pool, presents numerous opportunities for us to expand on our established local client base and attract top-flight lawyers to the firm”, Morgan said in an October 31 press release.
Joyce added that the firm saw Denver as “a hub for innovation in energy and other industrial sectors”.
Morgan co-leads Vinson & Elkins’ capital markets and M&A practice group. She has assisted public and private companies, investment banks, management teams, and private equity clients with capital-raising transactions and M&A. She is admitted to practice in Texas, with a pending Colorado application.
Joyce is co-head of the firm’s energy transactions and projects practice group. He has worked on infrastructure finance and tax-credit monetization transactions related to a range of renewable energy and energy transition assets. He is admitted to practice in California, with a Colorado application pending.
Layne is part of the firm’s capital markets practice and acts for clients on public and private securities offerings.
Vinson & Elkins confirmed its intent to bring more partners and associates into the Denver office. The firm also has branches in Texas, California, Washington D.C., New York, Virginia, Dubai, Dublin, and Tokyo.
