Megan Ollivier – who focuses on private mergers and acquisitions, project development, joint ventures, and other commercial transactions within the energy sector – has joined Stikeman Elliott LLP as a partner in its energy group in Calgary. 

“We are very pleased to have Megan join our Calgary Energy Group,” said Chrysten Perry, managing partner of the Calgary office, in the firm’s news release. “Her strong reputation and broad experience advising on commercial and M&A transactions in the energy sector add significant depth to our practice.”

Ollivier deeply understands the oil and gas and power sectors, according to the firm’s news release. Her firm bio provides that her experience includes assisting energy companies with various commercial transactions in Canada, including purchases and sales, midstream services arrangements, joint operating agreements, and Indigenous equity partnerships. 

She also helps clients draft and negotiate energy contracts for developing petroleum, natural gas, oil sands, and renewable energy resources, her bio said. She also advises buyers and sellers about asset and share purchase transactions, amalgamations, and corporate reorganizations, her bio added.

Ollivier’s background

Ollivier’s LinkedIn page provides more information about her professional history. She joined the Calgary office of Bennett Jones LLP as a summer law student in May 2011. She has since worked at that firm as a student-at-law starting in 2012, an associate beginning in 2013, and a partner starting in 2023 until she moved to Stikeman Elliot. 

She belongs to the Canadian Energy Law Foundation, her bio stated. She obtained her JD with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 2012, her BA from the University of Calgary in 2008, and admission to the Alberta bar in 2013. 

In its news release, Stikeman Elliott said its energy group gives clients practical and strategic advice about the evolving economic and regulatory climate. The group deals with initial project development, final investment decisions (FID), financing, commercialization, and ongoing operations.
