Only five weeks remain until the Canadian Law Awards – Lexpert and Canadian Lawyer’s annual celebration of excellence in the legal profession.

The event, which will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on May 7th, will include a cocktail reception followed by an awards ceremony and dinner banquet. After the ceremony, attendees are invited to continue the festivities at a post-awards celebration.

Entertainment for the evening includes performances by Soulfire, dynamic aerial duo Alexandra LeGendre and Eman Hillawi, and circus performer Bella Magic.

The 2025 Canadian Law Awards will take place at a poignant time for the legal industry. As legal professionals in Canada navigate a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape and colleagues south of the border face myriad challenges to the rule of law, paying tribute to achievements within the legal profession is especially critical.

Sponsors for this year’s awards include Lawson Lundell LLP and Singleton Urquhart Reynolds Vogel LLP.

The Lawson Lundell LLP Award for Law Department Leader of the Year is awarded based on transactions, initiatives, and leadership qualities of in-house legal leaders. It is open to Canada-based general counsels, chief legal officers, and other in-house legal heads.

The Singleton Urquhart Reynolds Vogel LLP Award for Construction, Infrastructure and Transportation Law Department of the Year is open to Canada-based law departments in construction, infrastructure, or transportation organizations. A winner will be selected based on their legal work's quantity, quality, importance, and innovativeness.

“Lawson Lundell is delighted to sponsor the 2025 Canadian Law Awards,” says a Lawson Lundell spokesperson. “As a leading full-service business law firm in western and northern Canada, we are committed to recognizing the outstanding contributions of legal professionals across the industry.”

Sharon Vogel, co-managing partner at Singleton Reynolds, says, “As leaders in construction and infrastructure law, we are proud to support and celebrate outstanding in-house legal teams in construction, infrastructure and transportation.”

In March, Lexpert and Canadian Lawyer unveiled its Excellence Awardees – a shortlist of outstanding individuals, organizations, and accomplishments selected by the Canadian Law Awards team.

An independent panel of judges will review and score the awardees to select winners across 23 categories. Those winners will be revealed at the Canadian Law Awards.
