The annual gala celebrating lawyers 40 and under takes place in Toronto on November 19
Lexpert’s Rising Stars gala is coming up on November 19th, and registration for tables and single tickets is open for the annual celebration of lawyers 40 and under who have made outstanding contributions in their careers.
Winners will be revealed at the Liberty Grand in Toronto and profiled in the November issue of Lexpert magazine. The event will include complimentary parking, a cocktail reception, dinner banquet, and post-party celebration.
Wilma Shim, an Alberta Human Rights Commission member named a Rising Star in 2023, told Canadian Lawyer, “It was an absolute honour to be recognized nationally with other young legal leaders in the country.”
“As a sports law lecturer, my focus is always on the students and their learning. It was special to receive recognition for the work that I have done in this field,” Shim says. “Meeting other recipients was also a thrill as I learnt so much about their journeys. I am proud to be a Lexpert Rising Star, and receiving this award has given me a boost in my legal and academic pursuits.”
Each year, Lexpert’s advisory panel of legal leaders selects the Rising Star award winners. This year, Lexpert invited members of the legal profession to nominate young Canadian lawyers from law firms, organizations, and in-house departments who have outstanding accomplishments.
The November gala will be hosted by personal finance authority and national media personality Melissa Leong.  A bestselling author and the resident money expert on CTV’s The Social, Leong was a print journalist at The National Post, The Toronto Star, and The Globe and Mail, covering politics, terrorism, crime, arts, and business for over two decades.
Individual seats and VIP and standard tables can be booked through the event’s registration page.
Lexpert Rising Stars is presented by Lexpert magazine with support from Law Times and Canadian Lawyer.
Lexpert warmly thanks event partner Dye & Durham and silver sponsor Norton Rose Fulbright for supporting the recognition of stellar work by lawyers under 40 in Canada.
