Hailing from the Listuguj Mi’gmaq First Nation in Quebec, Naiomi Metallic is the Chancellor’s Chair in Aboriginal Law and Policy and assistant professor of law at Schulich School of Law, where she teaches Aboriginal and Indigenous law, constitutional law, equality and human rights law and diversity in legal education, the profession and the judiciary. She is passionate about using the practice of law as a tool for reconciliation and improving the lives of Indigenous peoples. Metallic is founding director of the Listuguj Aboqonmadultinech Community Foundation, member of the Council of Canadian Academics Expert Panel on Policing in Indigenous Communities and a board member of the Indigenous Bar Association. Metallic epitomizes the future of Aboriginal and Indigenous law and equality for everyone in need. In 2017, she cowrote a chapter in Administrative Law in Context titled “Realizing Administrative Aboriginal Law.”
