Five law firms made new announcements
Welcome to this week’s roundup of movements among major law firms, in which we sum up significant hires, promotions, departures, and other announcements.
The firm has promoted Cameron Fox from an articled student to an associate in the firm's business litigation group. Fox's practice covers contract disputes, commercial litigation, shareholders' oppression and derivative claims, creditors' remedies, shareholder and partnership disputes, real estate disputes, insurance liability defence, and judicial reviews.
Nick Noonan has joined Fillmore Riley as an associate. He specializes in business and tax practice areas.
Alia Besharat has joined Ogletree Deakins' Toronto office as an associate. Her practice encompasses various employment matters, including employment standards issues, human rights claims, severance disputes, and advisory work.
Besharat currently serves on the executive of the Ontario Bar Association's labour and employment section. She is also an active member of the Employment Lawyers Association of Ontario. Besharat earned her law degree from the University of Leicester.
The firm has welcomed the following new associates:
WeirFoulds has welcomed Adam Varro as an associate in the firm's commercial litigation group. Varro practises aviation, media, and defamation litigation. His practice encompasses acting for air carriers in commercial and liability claims and defending Canadian media organizations in liability and defamation claims. Before joining WeirFoulds, Varro was a litigation associate at a full-service Toronto-based law firm, where his practice focused on automotive law, licencing and regulatory disputes.
Varro has represented clients before the Licence Appeal Tribunal, Divisional Court, Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice and assisted clients with licencing applications under the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act and the Cannabis Licence Act.
