Pinsent Masons poaches partner trio from Dentons to boost presence in Germany

Pinsent Masons has boosted its presence in Germany with a triple partner team and a legal director hire, recruiting two public sector and EU law partners and a corporate partner into its Dusseldorf office.

The trio of partners includes public sector specialist Andreas Haak, public procurement law partner Lars Hettich, and corporate specialist Michael Krömker. They will join the firm from Dentons in Dusseldorf. The partner team will be joined by EU and state aid legal director Barbara Thiemann.

Haak, who was Dentons’ Dusseldorf office managing partner and co-head of the firm’s public sector group, specialises in EU law, public procurement and state aid law alongside trade compliance matters as well as advising on privatisation and public-private partnership transactions.

Hettich specialises in public commercial law, state aid and public funding advising predominantly public sector bodies on the implementation of complex domestic and multinational procurement projects. He also supports private sector clients on engaging with public tender projects advising on the procurement life cycle.

Krömker is an experienced corporate partner who has built a practice advising clients on a broad range of matters including cross-border M&A, joint ventures and corporate reorganisation. His practice spans a number of sectors including energy, technology and media and infrastructure.

“We are excited to welcome our new team as the firm continues to build out its strategic focus in Germany and across Europe,” said head of Germany at Pinsent Masons, Thomas Peschke. “With an excellent track record on both domestic and multinational mandates, our new partners and legal directors will be an asset to our firm in supporting our multinational client base as we double down on developing our German practice.”

The firm kickstarted its presence in Germany with the launch of its Munich office in 2012 followed by the opening of offices in Dusseldorf in 2016 and Frankfurt in 2019.
