London firm Kingsley Napley lures UK regulator’s deputy chief executive Juliet Oliver

London firm Kingsley Napley has hired Juliet Oliver, deputy chief executive and general counsel at the UK Solicitors Regulation Authority, as the incoming managing director of its strategic regulatory advice arm Stratify.

Oliver starts with the firm in June, concluding a 10-year run with the SRA. Her work at the regulator included strategic management and advising on governance and compliance matters and regulatory reform.

She led investigation and enforcement functions and the dedicated anti-money laundering directorate. According to the Law Society Gazette, Oliver, who used to be a partner at Fieldfisher, was considered a seasoned and skilled veteran at the regulator, and her exit from the SRA comes as the regulator tackles the fallout from the Axiom Ince issue.

Kingsley Napley said in a press release that Oliver would work with Iain Miller, the firm’s legal services regulatory team head.

“The legal market is undergoing unprecedented change and our Stratify team aims to help put regulatory considerations at the heart of strategic business planning for new and established operators in the sector. Juliet’s knowledge and expertise is just what clients need as they look to seize opportunities and grow their business within the requisite regulatory frameworks,” Miller said in a statement.

Oliver said she was eager to advise on “radical” global legal services market changes.

“I know that Juliet will be a huge asset to Stratify and our clients, given the breadth and depth of her regulatory experience. We worked closely together at the SRA on developing its regulatory framework, and I am looking forward to working with her again”, said Stratify co-founder Crispin Passmore in a statement.

Passmore was previously executive director of policy at the SRA until he departed the regulator in 2018. He established Stratify with Miller in November 2024 as a service that advises legal industry investors and leaders.

Stratify’s clients include private equity firms, family offices, and start-ups.
