Of those promoted, 60 percent are women, and 81 percent are of Asian ethnicity
Herbert Smith Freehills has announced its largest ever round of senior associate promotions as part of its ongoing expansion in Asia.
The firm made 26 promotions in eight of its nine Asia offices and across its corporate, disputes and finance practices. The round also includes five promotions by the firm's associate firm in Jakarta – Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung.
Of the new senior associates, 60 percent are women, and 81 percent are of Asian ethnicity.
"We have ambitious plans for Asia and, alongside new hires, successful expansion depends on a solid and talented pipeline of lawyers across our nine-office network," said Asia managing partner May Tai.
"This promotion round also reflects solid progress in building the diverse practice that we want and that our clients demand in Asia – a practice that truly reflects the region and communities in which we work."
These promotions follow the announcement of six new partners and seven new counsel across Herbert Smith Freehills' Asia and associate firm network in April 2022.
Those to be promoted to senior associate from 1 July 2022 are:
