Dentons Canada has announced the election of Mercedes Hitesman as the firm's new office managing partner in Edmonton, effective February 1. Hitesman is a partner in the firm's Litigation and Dispute Resolution group. She has nearly 20 years of experience in practising personal injury law. In addition to her new role as Edmonton managing partner, Hitesman will join the National Management Committee and be directly involved in the firm's day-to-day operations and the execution of the firm's strategic plan and vision.
"We are delighted to see Mercedes step into the role of Edmonton Managing Partner. She is a strong and empathetic leader who has shown her dedication to the success of the firm and our clients," said Tim Haney, CEO of Dentons Canada.
FOLA has announced the appointment of Ian Hu as Director of Policy and Advocacy, effective January 15. Hu has 15 years of experience as a lawyer in private practice and as the face of the province's legal malpractice insurer. He has also held leadership positions with law associations in Canada and the United States.
"I am excited to help FOLA and its stakeholders push forward the justice agenda. We will enthusiastically meet the challenges the legal system faces now and into the future," Hu said.
