MLT Aikins LLP has welcomed Erika Carrasco and Riley Graydon as partners in its Calgary and Vancouver offices, respectively.
Carrasco began working with MLT Aikins's advocacy group on May 1. She concentrates on litigation and emerging technology law.
She has advised on complex disputes for clients across the technology, insurance, cannabis, construction, and energy sectors. She has tackled issues related to artificial intelligence, drones, blockchain, and autonomous vehicles.
Carrasco was the first Canada-based lawyer to successfully argue an appeal under the Canadian aviation regulations in relation to drones, MLT Aikins said.
"Erika is an exceptionally skilled and dedicated lawyer. We look forward to the contributions she will bring to our Calgary litigation group, to our technology, intellectual property and privacy group and our firm more broadly," MLT Aikins managing partner Aaron Runge said.
Graydon commenced in the role on May 19. His practice focuses on matters involving corporate/commercial law and mergers and acquisitions; he has also tackled issues related to emerging growth companies, corporate finance and securities, private equity, and venture capital.
He joined MLT Aikins from Osler and has worked in the emerging technology space in Vancouver. He has advised investors, entrepreneurs and private companies.
Graydon has handled issues at all lifecycles stages on transactions related to M&A, venture capital and private equity financings, recapitalizations, and joint ventures and strategic alliances. He has also guided clients on matters involving incorporation, equity incentives, shareholder agreements, and dispute resolution.
He was admitted to the British Columbia bar in 2016 and is among the founders of the Young Canadians in Finance network.
MLT Aikins also brought in Jamie Egula, Sophie Cannon, and Brandon Gray as associates.
Egula joined the Vancouver office on May 6, focusing on corporate finance and securities and M&A matters. In particular, he has tackled M&A, securities, and corporate/commercial issues in the technology and natural resource sectors.
Like Egula, Cannon commenced with the Vancouver office on May 6. She concentrates on corporate/commercial and insolvency and restructuring law.
Gray started with MLT Aikins's Winnipeg office on May 12, focusing on civil litigation.
