Event celebrating Canada's leading lawyers under 40 set for Nov. 22, first time in-person since pandemic
Award-winning humanitarian and medical doctor Dr. Samantha Nutt will the keynote speaker at the The Lexpert Rising Stars for 2022 gala on Nov. 22 in Toronto.
Nutt, founder of War Child Canada and War Child USA, is a leading authority on current affairs, war, international aid, public health, and foreign policy.
Her topic for the evening will be “Why the World Needs more Lawyers.” It explores the importance of the rule of law and access to justice in promoting a more peaceful and sustainable world. Nutt will about her experiences developing and promoting access to justice programs that strengthen the rights of women and children, with a view to tackling the climate of impunity that exists in many corners of the world. She will also explain why the rule of law and its champions can and must be the next frontier of international humanitarian assistance.
Nutt’s talk will be a highlight of the Rising Stars gala, which returns to a physical stage for the first time since the pandemic to celebrate lawyers 40 and under who have made outstanding contributions in their careers thus far.
Lexpert’s advisory panel, comprised of esteemed leaders and experts within the legal profession combed through the nominations to pick the winners based on the relevant criteria. Winners will be revealed live at the event to be held at Toronto's Liberty Grand venue. Winners will represent young Canadian lawyers from law firms, in-house departments, and organizations.
Also, as part of the event, attendees will hear from Arisa Cox, host and executive producer of Big Brother Canada.
