A few Bay Street lawyers have some interesting dates ahead of them for 2015 after helping to raise $20,000 for the See Different Movement in the first ever Great GC Auction.
The Great GC Auction was held last Thursday night at the offices of RBC, and was sponsored by RBC and AON Canada on behalf of the
Canadian Centre for Diversity. The See Different Movement is an initiative of the centre, which is the charitable arm of the Canadian Institute of Diversity and Inclusion. The goal of See Different is to address issues of bullying, bias, and discrimination in Canadian high schools by empowering youth to take action against discrimination and violence in their schools and communities.
The silent auction featured eight packages offered up by prominent general counsel including David Allgood of RBC, Norie Campbell of TD Bank Group, Terrie-Lynne Devonish of AON Canada, Simon Fish of BMO Financial Group, Kenneth Fredeen of Deloitte & Touche LLP, Fernando Garcia of Nissan Canada, John Mountain of NEI Investments, and Dorothy Quann of Xerox Canada.
The auction packages include dates for Raptor games and museum tours as well as a day of golf at Glen Abbey with Fernando Garcia to skiing with David Allgood to a Bob Seger concert at the ACC with Dorothy Quann, or dinner with a private chef and John Mountain of NEI.
Law firms purchased $500 tickets (to a maximum of five per firm) to bid during the silent auction to win one-on-one time with the general counsel who donated the package.
