Kristen Slaney, aka Krissy, is a native Newfoundlander in the Dual Canadian and American JD program at the University of Windsor and the University of Detroit Mercy. Her favourite part of law school so far has been working with the UDM clinical program. In her spare time, she can be found on the Windsor riverfront with her Chihuahua.
As the days grow longer with sunlight, I realize how much closer I am to graduating from law school, and while that thought is exhilarating, it is also intimidating. This month, I decided to share my gratitude for things that law school brought me, whether it be through my education, or through moving here to Windsor.
As a dual JD student, it is a requirement to partake in a clinical program at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. In the fall 2017 semester, I did a clinic and loved it so much that I am doing another clinic this semester. Working with the clinic has been my best experience in law school.
Let’s face it, this time of year is not easy for law students. With midterm exams, papers, OCIs and trying to hold it all together, it is hard to see the positives about this time of year, although seeing the positives is critical to maintaining a healthy outlook on life and making the law school experience more enjoyable.
