Jeff Davis is the Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. He oversees the legal team, as well as board governance, compliance, communications, government and public affairs, and plan policy. This dynamic team of over 100 professionals across the globe comprising Ontario Teachers’ Corporate Affairs division, including lawyers, branding, marketing & communications experts, compliance officers, lobbyists and support functions.
Jeff’s leadership at Ontario Teachers’ focuses on strategy, culture and nurturing internal talent. His authentic and people-centric leadership - grounded in empathy, trust and vulnerability - is a fitting reflection of Ontario Teachers’ purpose – providing retirement security for Ontario teachers who, among other things, cultivate humane values that are critical to a good citizenry.
Jeff joined Ontario Teachers' in 2004 and was promoted to Vice-President and Associate General Counsel in 2010. A leading securities law expert, he led the legal team in countless transactions around the world and was instrumental in establishing Ontario Teachers' Hong Kong office in 2013.
In 2009, Jeff was recognized as one of Lexpert's Rising Stars – Leading Lawyers Under 40, and was a finalist in the Dealmaking category of the Canadian General Counsel Awards. In 2018, he was the recipient of the Chambers & Partners award for Outstanding Contribution to the Legal Profession and in 2019 he was named General Counsel of the Year by the Canadian General Counsel Awards. In 2021, Jeff was named the President of Legal Leaders for Diversity and Inclusion.
Jeff earned an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School and a BA from the University of Western Ontario.
