On September 6, 2023, West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. announced its acquisition of Spray Lake Sawmills in Cochrane, Alberta, for CDN$140 million, subject to post-closing adjustments. The transaction, set to close following Canadian regulatory reviews and customary conditions, marks West Fraser's expansion in Southern Alberta and its Canadian treated wood sector. Spray Lake Sawmills, known for its treated wood products, dimensional lumber, and innovative wood residuals, has an annual lumber capacity of 155 million board feet. It also holds two Forest Management Agreements in Alberta, allowing an annual cut of around 500,000 cubic meters.
