Bruker (Nasdaq: BRKR) acquired Tornado Spectral Systems Inc., a Canadian firm known for its process Raman instruments, widely utilized in the pharma and biotech sectors for quality control. This move, aimed at enhancing Bruker's biopharma Process Analytical Technology (PAT) offerings, incorporated Tornado's over ten years of expertise in delivering innovative Raman solutions. The financial aspects of the deal were not revealed.

Tornado's High-Throughput Virtual Slit (HTVS™) technology, key to its offering, enables the capture of high-quality spectra in challenging Raman analyses. Its product lineup, including the HyperFlux™ PRO Plus, Process Guardian™, and SuperFlux™, stands out for its superior performance over traditional Raman spectrometers. These instruments offer more precise chemical identification and quantification at low concentrations and enable quicker measurements of dynamic reactions with safety in hazardous settings due to their low laser power requirement.

Moreover, Tornado's range encompasses durable Raman probes designed for various process environments, capable of multiplexing to allow one analyzer to monitor multiple probes at different points.

Dr. Andreas Kamlowski, President of Bruker Optics, highlighted the acquisition's role in broadening Bruker's biopharma PAT analyzer range and welcomed Tornado's experienced team. Tornado's CEO, Mr. Ambrish Jaiswal, expressed pride in joining Bruker, anticipating further advancements and contributions to Bruker's spectroscopic process portfolio.
