IPH acquires prominent Canadian intellectual property firm ROBIC

On November 22, 2023, IPH Limited announced its acquisition of the Canadian intellectual property firm ROBIC, marking its third acquisition in Canada and establishing Canada as its largest regional market. This move expands IPH's presence as a leading international IP services group operating across ten jurisdictions.

Dr. Andrew Blattman, IPH's Managing Director and CEO, expressed excitement about incorporating ROBIC into the IPH group. This acquisition is seen as a significant step in IPH's growth in Canada and its overall global expansion strategy. Blattman emphasized IPH's commitment to Canada since its ASX listing nine years ago, with a focus on leading in secondary IP markets and adjacent areas.

Dario Pietrantonio, a member of ROBIC's Executive Committee, noted that joining IPH will enhance ROBIC's international service capabilities and local business growth. He anticipated ongoing support for their Canadian and global clients, now under IPH's umbrella, and new career opportunities for their staff.

Post-acquisition, ROBIC will maintain its brand identity, with the transaction expected to be completed by mid-December 2023. Financial advisory for the deal was provided by Aquasia, and legal advisement was handled by Lapointe Rosenstein Marchand Melançon, Cassels Brock & Blackwell, and Bird & Bird.
