On August 23, 2022, EverWind Fuels Company, founded by infrastructure expert Trent Vichie, and E.ON Hydrogen GmbH, a subsidiary of E.ON SE, agreed on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to import up to 500,000 tonnes annually of green ammonia from EverWind’s facility in Point Tupper, Nova Scotia, to Germany starting in 2025. Point Tupper, a green hydrogen and ammonia production and export facility, is poised to be the first of its kind in Atlantic Canada, operational by early 2025.

This agreement is a significant stride in green energy, aiding in the decarbonization of Canada and Europe and reducing Europe's reliance on fossil fuels. E.ON aims to make green hydrogen accessible to German small and medium-sized businesses, vital to the country's economy. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston lauded the MOU for bolstering sustainable energy supply and supporting regional green energy initiatives. Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, Jonathan Wilkinson, underscored Canada's key role in the global energy transition.

The partnership, celebrated in Halifax, aligns with the Canada-Germany Hydrogen Alliance's goals, with both countries' leaders recognizing its importance for energy security and democratic values.
