On September 12, 2023, BMS Group, a leading independent specialist in insurance and reinsurance brokerage, acquired Smith & Reid Insurance Brokers Ltd and O’Neil Insurance, both based in Canada.

The acquisition was part of BMS Group's strategic expansion into specialty retail in Canada. Smith & Reid, led by President Jeff Smith and Vice-President Dan Reid, are known for their expertise in specialized lines such as construction, real estate, oil and petrol distribution, and auto dealerships.
