On February 21, 2023, Cogeco Connexion announced the acquisition of the telecommunications operations of the internet service provider, oxio. This acquisition allows oxio to maintain its independent operation and brand identity while serving its customers.

Marc-André Campagna, CEO and co-founder of oxio, explained that the decision to sell the telecommunication operations was part of a strategic shift to concentrate exclusively on the expansion of their software business. He expressed confidence in Cogeco's ability to foster oxio's growth due to their shared Quebec roots, human scale, and entrepreneurial culture.

Frédéric Perron, President of Cogeco Connexion, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition. He highlighted oxio's appealing brand, high customer satisfaction, and dedicated team as key factors in the decision. Perron emphasized that oxio's digital-only home Internet service would be a valuable addition to Cogeco Connexion's diverse range of high-quality telecommunications services. The acquisition also allows Cogeco Connexion to add a second brand to its portfolio for serving Canadian telecommunications needs.

The transaction also included a licensing agreement, where Cogeco Connexion will utilize gaiia, oxio's proprietary software, to cater to oxio's customer base
