On April 24, Sociedad Punta del Cobre (Pucobre) and the El Espino Investment Fund of Resource Capital Funds (RCF) inked a framework agreement for the joint development of the “El Espino” copper mining project in Coquimbo, Chile. In the terms of this agreement, Pucobre will provide assets and funds totaling US $290,000,000 to acquire a 76.32% interest, while RCF's contribution of US $90,000,000 will grant them a 23.68% interest. The project's fruition depends on satisfying customary conditions associated with such operations. Pucobre was advised on the international front by Norton Rose Fulbright, with team members Alisson Babbit and Meaghan Farrell playing pivotal roles. RCF was advised by PPU Chile for matters in Chile, with Juan Paulo Bambach and Felipe Ossa on the team, and by Blakes in the U.S., with Trisha Robertson and Christina Huber. Kate Broom offered in-house counsel to RCF. Larrain y Asociados, who led the counsel for Pucobre, was steered by partners Jorge Granic and Juan de Dios Ferrada, assisted by associate Andrés Del Sante.
