On May 19, 2023, Manulife Investment Management (Manulife IM) announced a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in Serverfarm, a data center owner and operator. This investment will facilitate Serverfarm's expansion in North America, Europe, and Israel. Serverfarm currently oversees eight data centers spanning over 1.5 million square feet with 125MW IT capacity and has secured land for future development. Recep Kendircioglu, global head of infrastructure at Manulife IM, praised Serverfarm's growth potential in the data center sector. Avner Papouchado, Serverfarm's CEO, emphasized that the partnership with Manulife IM will help meet rising customer demand. The acquisition is set to finalize in Q3 2023, subject to regulatory approvals. Citigroup Global Markets Inc. and TD Securities (USA) LLC are financial advisors for Serverfarm, with Dentons US LLP and Alston & Bird LLP providing legal counsel. Meanwhile, TAP Advisors LLC is Manulife IM's financial advisor, and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP acts as its legal counsel.
