On February 28, 2023, Domtar Corporation, a member of the Paper Excellence Group, sold its Dryden pulp mill to First Quality Enterprises, Inc. The sale, prompted by the Canadian Competition Bureau's review of Domtar's planned Resolute Forest Products Inc. acquisition, garnered regulatory approvals, including the Commissioner of Competition and the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act. First Quality is committed to the mill's employees and community, planning no immediate operational changes. By August 3, 2023, the Dryden Mill, renowned for its premium Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp, was successfully acquired and rebranded as Dryden Fibre Canada, ULC within the First Quality Group. Financial terms were not disclosed.
