On April 15, 2025, Richelieu Hardware Ltd. (TSX: RCH), a Montreal-based distributor and manufacturer of specialty hardware and building materials, announced the completion of its acquisition of Midwest Specialty Products LLC, a Minnesota-based distributor of premium countertop and surface materials. The transaction was closed on January 13, 2025, and while the transaction value was not disclosed, the acquisition represents a strategic expansion of Richelieu’s U.S. operations across six Midwestern states.

Midwest Specialty Products supplies high-end materials such as quartz, soapstone, porcelain, and quartzite slabs, aligning well with Richelieu’s existing offerings in the North American design and construction markets. The deal enhances Richelieu’s reach and capacity in the U.S. residential and commercial building sectors.

The seller, Midwest Specialty Products, was advised by Generational Group, a Dallas-based M&A advisory firm that acted as exclusive financial advisor. Samantha O’Kane, Senior Counsel at Generational, provided internal legal support for the advisory team. While Richelieu’s external legal counsel was not named, its internal legal operations are managed by Yannick Godeau, who serves as Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary, overseeing legal compliance and corporate governance.

No underwriters, agents, or dealers were involved in this transaction, confirming it was a direct strategic acquisition rather than a public market deal.
