On March 4, 2025, Computershare Limited (ASX: CPU) completed the acquisition of BNY Trust Company of Canada from BNY Mellon (NYSE: BK) for US$63.4 million (C$86.6 million), funded with existing cash and debt capacity. Based in Toronto, BNY Trust Company of Canada was established in 2001 and manages around 1,800 client mandates, providing trust and agency services to issuers, corporations, banks, and government entities. This deal was initially announced on April 25, 2024.
The acquisition strengthens Computershare’s Corporate Trust business and broadens its client base in North America. CEO Stuart Irving expressed excitement about integrating BNY Trust Company of Canada’s team and clients, emphasizing the deal’s strategic value. The transaction is not expected to materially impact FY25 earnings.
