On April 14, 2023, Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) completed its acquisition of Kansas City Southern (KCS), forming Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), the first single-line railway connecting Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

The merger was initially announced on March 21, 2021, with CP agreeing to acquire KCS in a stock and cash transaction valued at approximately US$29 billion, including the assumption of $3.8 billion of KCS debt.
