On October 7, 2024, Mérieux NutriSciences, a leader in food safety and quality, acquired Bureau Veritas’ food testing business for an enterprise value of EUR 360 million (approximately CAD 520 million). The transaction included Bureau Veritas' microbiological, chemical, and molecular testing services provided through 34 laboratories and 1,900 staff across 15 countries in the Americas, Africa, and Asia Pacific. The acquisition aimed to strengthen Mérieux NutriSciences' global presence, doubling its operations in Canada and the Asia Pacific region, extending its reach to 32 countries.
Supported by parent company Institut Mérieux, this strategic move bolstered Mérieux NutriSciences' capability to meet rising global demand for food safety and sustainability. The company was in discussions with AsureQuality to continue joint ventures in Australia and Southeast Asia.
