On May 17, 2024, KidKraft, a U.S.-based toy company known for its wood-based play products, had its U.S. Chapter 11 proceedings recognized in Canada. Established in 1968, KidKraft faced significant liquidity and balance sheet challenges due to shrinking operating margins. In early 2024, Gordon Brothers acquired the company's senior secured debt and provided additional financing, totaling approximately USD $144.9 million, to support operations during the search for strategic alternatives. This resulted in a proposed sale to Backyard Products, LLC, set to be completed under creditor protection. Gordon Brothers will further support the restructuring by providing debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing.

KSV was appointed as the information officer. Legal advisors include Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP for KidKraft, Gowling WLG for KSV, Fasken for Gordon Brothers, and McCarthy Tétrault for Backyard Products.
