Alithya to acquire Datum Consulting for up to CAD 59 million

On June 1, 2022, the Montreal-based digital strategy and technology company Alithya completed the acquisition of the American firm Datum Consulting Group for around $59 million. Datum provides services globally, including in the United States, Europe, India, and Australia. The legal advisory for Alithya was provided by Stikeman Elliott, with a team led by David Massé and included experts in M&A and Securities. The paralegals involved were Farlene Barthelemy and Maria Sollazzo. Alithya was financially advised by Scotiabank, whereas Datum Consulting Group had financial advice from Consilium Partners. Alithya's President and CEO, Paul Raymond, highlighted the cultural and visionary alignment with Datum, noting the expertise of Datum's global team and its services to leading insurance companies. He emphasized Datum's 14 proprietary products and SaaS offerings as key to Alithya's growth and transformation efforts, particularly noting Datum's reach to top American and European health insurers and its scalable software products. Datum's President and Founder, Amar Bukkasagaram, expressed enthusiasm about joining Alithya and the potential for strategic global expansion. He underscored the advantage to clients from Datum's R&D and co-development with insurers, through their suite of proprietary products. The deal, which brought together complementary services and products from both companies, was finalized on July 1, 2022.
