Les Entreprises Marchand & Frères (EMF)
On June 5, 2024, VINCI Construction significantly bolstered its operations in Canada by acquiring Entreprises Marchand & Frères (EMF), a family-run public works company specializing in road works in central Quebec and the Baie-James area. EMF, which employs 220 people, generated €50 million (CAD$74 million) in revenue in 2023. The company's vertical integration includes three asphalt plants, nine quarries with nearly 20 million tonnes of material reserves, and two sand quarries.
This acquisition, in line with VINCI's vertical integration model, will enhance its network in Quebec, where it has operated for over 20 years. By integrating EMF's assets and expertise, VINCI Construction aims to strengthen its geographic and operational position in the province, expanding its capabilities in a region with significant potential for growth in mobility infrastructure.
In 2023, VINCI Construction generated more than €4 billion in revenue across North America, supported by a total workforce of 9,500 people. The acquisition of EMF is a strategic move to deepen VINCI's presence and operational capacity in the Canadian market. Transaction value for the deal was not disclosed.
