On May 11, 2022, Lodha, India's top real estate developer, has partnered with Bain Capital and Ivanhoé Cambridge to create a green digital infrastructure platform across India. The alliance plans to invest USD 1 billion to develop around 30 million square feet of digital infrastructure, including logistics and industrial parks, to support India's growing digital economy. Each entity will own an approximate one-third stake, with Lodha managing the development and operations. Abhishek Lodha, CEO of Lodha, emphasized the project's alignment with India's digital transition and the global shift towards a "China + 1" manufacturing strategy. He stressed the rising demand for high-quality digital infrastructure in India and the initiative's synergy with government objectives to improve logistics and generate employment. The inaugural project is a major logistics and industrial park in Mumbai's Palava, establishing a cornerstone for nationwide digital infrastructure. The partnership has also begun acquiring land across India for future projects. Bain Capital and Ivanhoé Cambridge officials have shown optimism towards the venture's role in India's digital economy. They anticipate the collaboration will leverage India's strong market fundamentals, driven by urbanization, changing consumption patterns, and e-commerce expansion, to open new opportunities in the logistics sector.
