On September 8, 2022, Montagu, a prominent private equity firm, agreed to further invest in Universal Investment Group alongside Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), which acquired a significant stake through CPP Investment Board Europe Sarl. The partnership aimed to accelerate Universal Investment's growth and support its goal of becoming a leading global fund services provider. The transaction, subject to regulatory approvals, was designed to bolster Universal Investment's presence across Germany, Ireland, and Luxembourg.

Universal Investment, a third-party management company (ManCo) and fund administration service provider, has experienced consistent growth over 15 years, serving institutional investors and asset managers. With around €760 billion in assets under administration and over 1,100 employees, the company has expanded its platform, launched new services, and internationalized its business since Montagu's initial investment in 2017. Montagu and CPP Investments aimed to leverage Universal Investment's strong market position and operational excellence to drive further expansion.

Michael Reinhard, CEO of Universal Investment, emphasized the company's development into a leading European fund service platform, attributing its growth to the partnership with Montagu and welcoming CPP Investments. Daniel Fischer, Director at Montagu, highlighted the successful collaboration since 2017, while Hafiz Lalani, Managing Director at CPP Investments, expressed confidence in Universal Investment's potential to deliver long-term value.
