Mercer International Inc. completed the acquisition of Structurlam Mass Timber Corporation and its subsidiaries on June 15, 2023, integrating Structurlam's assets under the Mercer Mass Timber brand. The deal significantly bolstered Mercer Mass Timber’s production capacity and market position in the mass timber industry. The acquisition included Structurlam's production facilities in Conway, Arkansas, and Penticton, British Columbia, Canada, both of which will remain operational.

This strategic acquisition enhanced Mercer Mass Timber’s capabilities by increasing cross-laminated timber (CLT) capacity and adding glulam production capabilities, with an additional 45,000 m³ of capacity. It also expanded the company's geographic reach and market influence, aiming to standardize mass timber products in the North American market, similar to steel and concrete.

Brian Merwin, Senior Vice President of Mercer Mass Timber, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, highlighting the expanded product range and improved support for customer projects. The transaction positioned Mercer Mass Timber as a comprehensive provider for mass timber needs, poised to support larger and more complex projects with increased efficiency.
