Brim Financial Inc.
Export Development Canada (EDC) led an $85 million investment in Brim Financial Inc., a rapidly growing Canadian fintech company. This funding, one of the largest for a Canadian digital company led by a woman, came from EDC's growth equity fund with contributions from previous investors Vistara Growth, White Owl Group, Epic Ventures, and Zions Bank. Brim, co-founded in 2015 by CEO Rasha Katabi, a seasoned financial services executive, plans to use this capital to expand its digital credit card program management tool into the U.S. market.
The company, which initially focused on consumer credit, has pivoted to offering a "credit-card-as-a-service" model. This service targets regional banks, credit unions, fintech companies, and consumer brands, providing a comprehensive platform that handles identity verification, credit adjudication, customer service, compliance, and loyalty programs.
Since its last venture capital round in early 2021, where Brim raised $25 million at a valuation of nearly $100 million, its revenue has increased tenfold. The company has also formed significant partnerships, including with MasterCard Inc., positioning it as a strategic partner in the U.S. for innovative credit card solutions. Brim's pivot and growth have led it to become the 20th fastest-growing technology company in Canada, as reported by Deloitte & Touche, with a three-year revenue growth of 1,028 percent.
