Gurpaul Khangura, a building supply and lumber salesperson, worked for Lumberwest Building Supplies Inc. from December 2020 to September 2021. Mr. Khangura believed he was terminated without cause, but Lumberwest claimed they only wanted to address performance concerns. Lumberwest asked Mr. Khangura to continue his employment, but he decided to leave and join another company instead. Mr. Khangura filed a wrongful dismissal claim, seeking damages for unpaid remuneration under the employment contract. The court found that Mr. Khangura voluntarily left his job despite Lumberwest's desire to maintain the employment relationship, and thus dismissed his claim. The issue of costs is still pending and may require further legal proceedings if the parties cannot agree.
