Ms. Jolene-Ann Charters was riding her bicycle when she collided with a parked car's door. The driver and owner of the car admitted liability for the accident. As a result of the accident, Ms. Charters experienced right wrist pain, mild right hip discomfort, and mild right knee discomfort. She sought damages for pain and suffering, loss of income-earning capacity, cost of future care, and special damages. The court awarded her $70,000 for non-pecuniary damages, $5,000 for past loss of income-earning capacity, $2,500 for the cost of future care, and $1,150 for special damages, totaling $78,650. However, Ms. Charters was not awarded damages for future loss of income-earning capacity.
