On November 28, 2023, the Canada Infrastructure Bank (“CIB”) and the Thompson Regional Airport Authority (“TRAA”) reached commercial close on CIB’s $52 million investment towards the redevelopment of Thompson Regional Airport (the “Project”).

The airport is a hub providing essential passenger and cargo services to communities in northern Manitoba and western Nunavut.

The Project is valued at $135 million and will significantly enhance the daily lives of 37 northern communities, including 15 remote Indigenous communities only accessible by air and ice roads.

Funded through CIB’s Indigenous Community Infrastructure Initiative, this large-scale investment demonstrates CIB’s commitment to enhancing Canada’s infrastructure and supporting projects that deliver a direct benefit to Indigenous communities.
