Welcome to this week’s roundup of movements among major law firms, in which we sum up significant hires, promotions, departures, and other announcements.

Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG)

Nicole Bacsalmasi has joined BLG’s corporate and capital markets group. She specializes in capital markets mandates, including initial and secondary public offerings, private placements and other exempt market offerings. She has experience with M&A transactions with public and private companies, general corporate legal advisory, corporate governance and regulatory compliance advice.

“Nicole uses innovative approaches to complex challenges that help clients find successful outcomes and achieve their goals,” said Prema Thiele, national group head of blg’s corporate & capital markets group. “Her knowledge in complex deal structuring and financing is an asset to our team and will provide strategic and important advice for our M&A clients.”

Lax O'Sullivan Lisus Gottlieb LLP

LOLG has welcomed Danielle Glatt to the partnership. Glatt practises commercial litigation and public law. Her commercial litigation practice focuses on shareholder disputes, securities matters, civil fraud, defamation, class actions, and insolvency. She has appeared as amicus at the Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal and has repeatedly intervened at the Supreme Court of Canada. Throughout her career, she has been involved in a number of complex commercial cases and insolvency proceedings.

McMillan LLP

McMillan has welcomed a new associate, Antoine St-Germain Martel, to its Montreal office. Marte specializes in litigation and dispute resolution.

Tyr LLP

Tyr has launched an intellectual property trial team. The team comprises Melanie Baird, Cole Meagher, Nick Morrow, Amy Grenon, and Laura E. MacDonald. The new team is supported by and will integrate with the firm’s existing trial lawyers, including several lawyers with substantial Federal Court and appellate experience.

WeirFoulds LLP

Alexandra Di Iorio has joined WeirFoulds’s real estate practice group. She is experienced in a diverse array of real estate files, including acquiring, selling, financing and developing land. Before joining WeirFoulds, Alexandra was an associate at a Toronto-based commercial law firm, where she maintained a commercial real estate practice.
